Maritime Security - June Meeting Subject
Chairman Bob Friedlieb gave a presentation on developing trends in the area of Maritime Security since the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) of 2002 was made law. Bob recently received his Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) Certification after attending the Maritime Security Institute Security CoursePort of Freeport in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The course is taught by instructors from SeaSecure also of Ft. Lauderdale. Bob is a retired U.S. Navy Security Specialist whose expertise is in physical security development and management. Bob said the course material coupled with the behind the scenes tours of Port Everglades and Freeport Bahamas port security operations was very informative. The class also involved a day of shipboard security orientation on a cruise ship.
